Just the random musings of a 20-something mother of two, married to her high school sweetheart, and kickin' it in suburbia.

Blue.
Baby blue was the color of her eyes.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring she came and left and I still don’t know why
But, here’s to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight. -George Strait
This song played during my portion of a photo montage at our wedding. It’s also the song I always think about when I see pictures of Mac. I kinda hope to hear it play at her wedding one day. She is my baby-blue for sure.

Closet. This is our 3rd house and by far my favorite closet. The only thing that would make it better is a shoe rack. You can only see a few but my shoes are all piled up around the corner. Yes, this is only part of our closet, there’s a whole other side around that little bend.

I spent the weekend in Saratoga, Texas. It’s about as country as you can get. I went to help my brother and sister-in-law, aka my best friend since junior high, paint. And by help I mean Dustin and I painted while Nikki kept a steady supply of sweet tea coming. Oh, and she cooked some amazing meals and played with my kids as well. Nikki and Dustin live in what use to be Dustin’s parents house, which would be my step-dad and his ex-wife. So if you are trying to connect the dots…my parents divorced 6 years ago, my mom remarried a wonderful man with 2 grown sons a few years younger than me, my best friend (whom I’ve known since junior high, lived with in college, put a deposit down with on an apartment in Mississippi that we never move into and has practically been a sister of mine for 10+ years) started dating one of those sons, she married him a year ago and they are now pregnant. Nikki (who was a bonafide city-girl) now lives in the sticks where she’s a barefoot and pregnant stay-at-home-pregnant-wife, living in a house built by her husband’s daddy on a hundred acres of land with her dog Hagan, 3 donkey’s - Ricky, Lucy and Ethel, and a horse named Gus. The house hasn’t been updated since it was built and has some work to be done on it. Luckily that man of hers, my wonderful brother, knows a thing or two about tools and house-repairs so they are steadily making progress. And me being the sweet and caring best friend/sister drove 1-1/2 hours to the sticks to paint. And paint we did; 3 bedrooms, a hallway, a giant 20ft staircase, half a breakfast room, and 2 rooms worth of trim. I’m a little tired. But back to my reason for this post…the picture. Day 11 in the February Photo a Day Challenge, “something that makes you happy”. This weekend that something was spending time with my brother and sister, laughing, painting (I really do love to paint), having wonderful conversations about God and life, and eating great food. The picture is of Dustin not-so-safely painting. Yes, that’s a giant extension-ladder on the stairs so that he could reach the 20ft ceiling. Please take a close look at the “step” he created in order to make the ladder level. Redneck engineering at its finest.

I’m jumping off the FEBphotoaday bandwagon for just today (yesterday) because I am not overly excited by my front door. Wait. Nevermind. I’ll make this my FEBphotoaday interpretation. When you walk through my “front door” you see this…I wish. I mean, you do see the couch and everything around it, but you won’t see those pillows. These beautiful pillows are an order I just finished up for a dear old friend. I love her fabric choices. Makes me want to redo my pillows. Again.
